My Captured Moment!

I have changed My Captured Moment this week.

The pictures are blurry – sorry it was a long time ago.

Paris : August 2005

Eiffel Tower

We had a great week or so in Paris.

We had been to Disneyland Paris and then spent the rest of the time exploring the city.

The youngest told a metro car full of people that the Eiffel Tower has spoken to her (I told you about her imagination last week ha!). Girls

L’Arc de Triomphe

Moments after this picture was taken, a van got stuck entering the tunnel under the Champs Elysees.

Pompidou Centre.

Then himself, second from right with a big stick, got chosen to be part of the street entertainment outside the Pompidou Centre.

That was very funny indeed!

We had a very eventful visit, for all the right reasons and, this is how I am choosing to remember this beautiful city.

Have a lovely day!

Five on Friday!

Hello my lovelies, I seem to have stumbled into Friday!

I missed last week because I was away for work in San Francisco.

I’ve no idea if it’s a great city or not because I barely stepped foot outside the hotel, it was pretty full on.

I have been fighting severe jet lag ever since, especially given that we got caught up in the fog delays at Heathrow airport.

Here are my Five on Friday in no particular order.

One

image

I did get to cross the Golden Gate Bridge on the only chilly, foggy day of my entire stay.

It was a beautiful sight as the fog descended before our very eyes.

There were some spectaculars photographs taken but obviously not by me ha! I was too cold cold to get my phone out again!

Two

On a spectacularly beautiful day, I got to the door of the Ferry Building to be called back to the hotel by my boss.

This picture is totally unfiltered, the sky was that beautiful shade for most of my visit.

I never did make it inside and for a bit of a foodie like me, I am afraid that it might end up being one of the biggest regrets of my life that I never got to see it.

Or maybe not, because we have just heard that the eldest may be going out that way to work next summer.

So maybe I will get to walk aimlessly around the ferry building one day!!

Three

image

I also didn’t get to ride the tram or trolley car.

But I did see them and they all looked fab.

There seemed to plenty of modes of transport in San Fran!

Four

image

The eldest requested that I purchased some make up for her and that was literally all I had time to run and buy.

This is the holiday edition packaging, isn’t it beautiful?

Five

Comfort food has definitely been needed since my return.

Himself has obliged and looked the Minestrone Soup Eastham style up on the blog yesterday.

He made it for a quick bonfire night dinner.

It was delicious and he was delighted with the results.

It really is so quick and easy, something magical happens to the ingredients when they are in the slow cooker.  It was perfect for bonfire night.

That’s my five for this week. We are planning a quiet weekend with plenty of down time after school mass on Saturday.

What have you been up to?

Thank you Amy for hosting!

Have a lovely weekend y’all x x x

I am dreaming of …….

Can it really be Friday already?

This week has been a bit odd here in The Glade, Ms Glade went to Rome on Monday, just as the youngest returned to school.

Then I mostly been thinking about …………….

Books to read.

image

Dresses to wear.image

Scarves, in pretty colours.

My favourite summer bag and make up.

And beaches!!

Ah what is this foolishness I hear you ask?

Well, Himself and I are leaving the changing season behind and heading for the desert on Saturday.

We are going to Dubai.

We have a week of relaxing planned , doing what we want, when we want!

I had planned to blog when I went to Spain, but the internet wasn’t great. Therefore, I am planning to take the whole week off, so by avoiding the frantic searching for wifi.

That said, don’t be surprised when I still pop by and leave comments, because quite frankly I’m addicted and don’t want to miss too much ha!

If burglar Bill is reading this, I don’t think he follows me, but just in case, it won’t be worth visiting The Glade, because the house will be occupied and Jack, that fearsome black lab, will be in residence at all times ha!

Have a wonderful week x x x

Postcards from Spain!

You must know by now that I don’t do long rambling posts, short and snappy is my philosophy!

I wanted to share our pictures from Spain but don’t want to bore anyone.

So I have made three postcards to give a snap shot and hopefully make it a bit more interesting!

My Captured Moment! #19

The south Lakes Safari Zoo – Circa 2009!

‘ I do not care that there is a Lemur behind me – what time is lunch?’

Seriously this child was, and remains, so difficult to impress.

Like the inhabitants, she perked up after she had been fed!

I loved this zoo, it was fab!!!

I also love this picture, it makes me laugh out loud!

My Captured Moment #18

image

My Captured Moment was taken last Sunday on the roof terrace of our holiday accommodation.

I love to take pictures but I am far less happy in front of the camera.

However, this particular morning the eldest had invested in a new ‘selfie stick’, her last one having been stolen at uni – students!

We had an hilarious morning of her taking pictures all over the place including in the car.

When I came to delete them all off my phone, I stopped at this one because I love the look on both of the girl’s faces.

It is a carefree moment, we are all make up free and have not done a thing with our hair – but we are on holiday and having fun!

I also promised a selfie to confirm that, I no longer look like I did in the wedding picture I posted last week.

Oh I am so nervous now as a come to press publish but it was a captured moment x

When in Rome………or Spain!

One of my favourite things to do on holiday is to go food shopping.

Three out of four of our contingent is vegetarian, so with the best will in the world, some meals have to be self catered.

Vegetarians get a raw deal in the UK, however we always come home from our holidays grateful that at least most places here have a vegetarian option.

During our recent trip to Spain, we found a particularly lovely Carrefore supermarket.

It was clean and airy with a vast range of everything we could possibly need. It was easy to navigate and even the girls didn’t mind visiting.

There was an abundance of choice of everything that we could possibly want to eat.

image

We were particularly taken with the produce section.Just look at those tomatoes and aubergines – wonderful!

image

As you would expect, the Tapas section was huge.

image

We enjoyed the feasts we created from our finds!

imageOne of my many guilty pleasures is crisps and we all giggled when we saw this packet with my name on ha!

Am I alone in this slight obsession with foreign supermarkets  because don’t every get me started on Publix in America, my favorite ever!

Have a lovely day!
