My Captured Moment!

This a departure for me today, instead of posting a throw back image, these are a series of pictures from `The Hair Cut` on Tuesday.

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the youngest was gifting her hair to The Princess Trust for Christmas.

Here are the pictures.

This was taken just as we arrived.

I think she was a bit nervous but, at no point did she change her mind.

image

Then the plaits were both carefully cut off.

image

There they are!

I was surprised at how heavy they were.

image

Then to the shaping!

image

The result!

I think she looks so much older than 12, but it does suit her.

This is Michelle, the hairdresser, she has known Evie forever!

It was lovely of her to do it.

When we came to pay, she actually donated her fee to the cause, what a sweetheart.

Immediately after leaving the hairdressers, we had to rush to the school carol concert, Evie sings in the choir.

Therefore, posting the hair had to wait until last night.

It has been carefully transported to the depot by her dad this morning.

Amazingly, over £200 has been donated to her `Just Giving Page` and funds are still coming in.

We are so proud of her!

August 2005 : Eureka, Halifax.

Sorry about the glare from the Himself’s jacket in this old picture.

It was taken at Eureka, The Children’s museum in Halifax.

There was lots of excitement when we got to this exhibit because “Daddy” works for the Post Office.

He celebrated his 30th year in the job earlier this year, that is a lot of Christmases.

He gets so exhausted, that by Christmas Eve, when I hand him my present to give to me ha!, he is usually full of cold and fit for nothing.

So as we approach this ridiculously busy time of year, I thought it would be nice to pop a picture on here to remind us all of what he looks like ha!

And, for those of you who don’t already know, that excited 2 year old is giving the ultimate Christmas Present this year, she is donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust.

This is a charity that  makes wig from real hair for children who have lost their own.

If are looking for a charity to donate your Christmas card pennies to, she does have a Just Giving Page.

To me, this is what Christmas is all about!

Middle Temple : 26th November 2010

This is Miss Glade the day after I was called to the Bar.

This picture was taken exactly five years ago today!

We went from here, to see Father Christmas in Harrods and then onto the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park – it was a lovely day!

Thankfully, the wig is absolutely no indication of her future plans ha!

I have changed My Captured Moment this week.

Paris : August 2005

Eiffel Tower

We had a great week or so in Paris.

We had been to Disneyland Paris and then spent the rest of the time exploring the city.

The youngest told a metro car full of people that the Eiffel Tower has spoken to her (I told you about her imagination last week ha!). Girls

L’Arc de Triomphe

Moments after this picture was taken, a van got stuck entering the tunnel under the Champs Elysees.

Pompidou Centre.

Then himself, second from right with a big stick, got chosen to be part of the street entertainment outside the Pompidou Centre.

That was very funny indeed!

We had a very eventful visit, for all the right reasons and, this is how I am choosing to remember this beautiful city.

Alanya, Turkey : July 2005

As the weather begins to turn decidedly chilly and the sun becomes a rare visitor, I have found myself looking at sunny pictures this week.

I love this one of the youngest, taken in Turkey when she was two.

This little train was between our hotel and the beach and, every day as we passed she declared that ‘Miss Tessie bear was stuck’.

We then spent the next 10 -15 minutes waiting for her as she fought hard to free Miss Tessie Bear and drive the train safely away.

It was the same every day and we all fell about laughing as the `rescue` got underway.

Even at two, the little Miss had a fierce imagination.

I left a comment on another blog recently pondering when they lose that creativeness in a bid to conform.

However, I’m not sure that was fair because this particular daughter’s imagination is just as active as it ever was, only now she indulges in creative writing, at any opportunity.

In fact she has plans to live in a garret in Paris with an abundance of cats and write stories every day when she leaves school ha! seriously!

My Captured Moment! Happy Birthday Gabriella

October 2005 :Gabriella Anastasia Maria

Dear Daughter,

This week sees you celebrating your 20th birthday, no longer a teenager.

I remember your first birthday so clearly.

Himself and I were amazed that we had managed to keep you alive for a whole year.

Until your sister came along, we thought we such good parents, then we realised that actually you were such a good girl!

We are so proud of you.

We know that Uni isn’t always easy but you have persevered.

It will be worth it in the end.

You are a lovely daughter, sister and friend. You are sassy, unique, special 🙂 and always try your best.

Happy Birthday Twinkle, we love you very much.

I am sneaking this one past the youngest today.

She is distracted with her school performance, we are going to see her in The Wizard of Oz tonight.

This picture was taken when she was about 4, I was at university and, she regularly had to pop in with me when child care was an issue.

In order to bribe persuade her it was a good idea, I always bought her a drink in the cafe, Five Alive being her favourite.

On this particular morning, she waltzed up to the fridge to collect her drink, frantically searching for it, they had sold out!

She was genuinely amazed and maybe a little bit outraged.

Realising quite early on what was about to happen, I had the phone camera poised, she didn’t disappoint.

This picture of her is one of my favourites, it  never ceases to make to me laugh.

At that stage, it was the most serious disappointment that she had suffered in her little life ha!

In the interests of completeness, she was consoled with a cup of tea and a muffin!
