Elche – A 1950’s Diner!

Some days it was so hot in Spain, that we simply had to seek refuge and find somewhere that we hoped had air conditioning!

On one such day we headed to a shopping centre in nearby Elche.

We ran into the L’Alijub centre and breathed  sigh of relief.

However, being used to air conditioning Floridian style, the strength found in Spain was disappointing.

Nevertheless, when I drew breathe, I realises that the youngest was quite nattily dressed for the occasion.

Mad men eat your heart out – you get the picture!

Given her choice of attire, when we spotted an American Diner that served veggie burgers, we were in there like a shot.

Tommy & Mel’s was such a quirky little place, the food was lovely and great quality.

Although the menus were all in English, apparently the staff did not speak any at all, and himself’s request for vinegar resulted in a bottle of larger*.

The littlest fitted in anyway!

Have a lovely day!

*We do have a go at the lingo when on holiday, we used google translate a lot, I think his issue is his accent ha!

My Five on Friday – The holiday edition!

My Five On Friday has a distinctive holiday feel about it today because I am in Spain, basking in the sun.

One

There have been many salad lunches consumed, have I mentioned that it is very hot here?

Two

My favourite holiday bag has made the journey with me this year. I bought this bag a few years ago in America, it is Lulu Guinness one for Penny’s, I love it.

The third picture isn’t one of my five, that is an extra to show you the view from our roof, it is fabulous up there especially in the evening. Sorry if that’s cheating Amy.

Three

The pool has been used a lot. It was 40 degrees this morning at 10.45! This picture looks like we are in a built up area but we really are not, we are in quite a rural area and there are lots of pools all around these properties.

Four

My crazy flip flops, they have sparkly soles too, so jazzy!

Five

Hat, sunglasses and deodorant are the bare essentials, enough said?

We do not have the internet in our accommodation and where it is available, in cafes and bars, it is very slow and tempremental. I promise that I will read and comment on your posts as soon as I can.

On the upside, there are so many great places to visit that I have a wealth of posts planned already, with photograph overloads ha!

As always, I am linking up with Amy at Love Made My Home.

These picture were taken on July 4th 2005 and we were on holiday in Turkey. The girls had been delighted watching the dancers each night and, on occasion, joining in.

When we popped to The Bazaar, I couldn’t resist getting himself to barter for these little outfits. The girls were thrilled and they stole the show that evening when the dancers invited them to join them during their routine. It was very funny and very sweet. I love these  pictures of such a fabulous evening.

I have used these pictures without the permission of the eldest, she is in Amsterdam, I hope she forgives me X.
