My Captured Moment!

I have changed My Captured Moment this week.

The pictures are blurry – sorry it was a long time ago.

Eiffel Tower

We had a great week or so in Paris.

We had been to Disneyland Paris and then spent the rest of the time exploring the city.

The youngest told a metro car full of people that the Eiffel Tower has spoken to her (I told you about her imagination last week ha!). Girls

L’Arc de Triomphe

Moments after this picture was taken, a van got stuck entering the tunnel under the Champs Elysees.

Pompidou Centre.

Then himself, second from right with a big stick, got chosen to be part of the street entertainment outside the Pompidou Centre.

That was very funny indeed!

We had a very eventful visit, for all the right reasons and, this is how I am choosing to remember this beautiful city.

August 2008

I am taking full advantage of the eldest being away in Rome by popping this picture of her onto my post today.

We had a great week in London in the summer of 2008. We did all the tourist attractions and were really lucky with the weather.

We visited attractions such as the Tower of London, the London Eye, the Museum of Childhood.

We took tea on Oxford Street and saw The Sound Of Music in the West End.

We watched the ‘Changing of the Guard’ outside Buckingham Palace and picnicked in most of the Royal Parks.

This picture was taken in The Diana Memorial Playground, Kensington Palace Gardens.

‘Inspired by the stories of Peter Pan, the playground encourages children to explore and follow their imaginations, learning whilst they play’.

This was supposed to be a pit stop, but it was quite early in the morning and not nearly as busy as we expected –  so we lingered!

The eldest helped the youngest with ladders, swings and climbing frames.

It is a brilliant place to visit.

This picture always makes me smile at the memories we made that week.

September 2007

As the return to school is fast approaching and we all prepare to take “that” photograph, My Captured Moment this week is the youngest’s first day in reception class.

Having attended pre school for a couple of years before she truly started school, the youngest was quite familiar with the school building and routines of the day.

However, she was still delighted to be going to ‘big school” and loved her big girl “buniform”.

This is my favourite first day back to school photograph!

Bounce Below……in a cave in North Wales!

It was suggested that we might enjoy a family trip to Bounce Below in North Wales.

It is such a popular spot that they only had pre booked placed available on the day that we went.

Himself had booked our tickets in advance,  the only slot they had left was more than a week away at 10am.

image

Therefore, we left the house at 7.45am on Sunday morning!

image

We arrived in plenty of time to be fitted for our safety helmets.

The website had been checked before hand and so we all wore long sleeves and long trousers.

The reviews on line suggested that you couldn’t take your phone in to take pictures.

However, lots of people had their phones but there wasn’t anyone available, in time, to walk me out to get mine.

So I don’t have any pictures from inside 😦

When you arrive you are part of a big group with the same time slot.

The whole group is led into the mouth of a cave where there is a circuit of nets with tunnels and slides linking them together.

There is a very strict protocol about which way you go and there were plenty of members of staff on hand to police it.

Other than that, it is for you to explore.

The nets give a trampolining effect which is great fun.

The tunnels/slides are not as bad as they seem and even the youngest, who was initial hesitant, found her confidence.

image

This picture was taken after we emerged from the cave an hour later.

There was a lot of crawling involved and if I was to go again, I wouldn’t wear jeans, my knees were chaffed.

I would also take my phone!

It was a great experience, it was very funny at times and we all really enjoyed it.

Most of the staff were great, but lets not discuss the service in the cafe!!!

image

However, every cloud has a silver lining and, if the staff in the cafe had been better, we would have missed this lovely riverside walk to Llanrwst town centre from the carpark.

There we enjoyed a lovely lunch and we were able to sit outside in the square.   A great finish to the morning.

Postcards from Spain!

You must know by now that I don’t do long rambling posts, short and snappy is my philosophy!

I wanted to share our pictures from Spain but don’t want to bore anyone.

So I have made three postcards to give a snap shot and hopefully make it a bit more interesting!

The south Lakes Safari Zoo – Circa 2009!

‘ I do not care that there is a Lemur behind me – what time is lunch?’

Seriously this child was, and remains, so difficult to impress.

Like the inhabitants, she perked up after she had been fed!

I loved this zoo, it was fab!!!

I also love this picture, it makes me laugh out loud!

Strawberry Fields Forever!!

The sweltering heat on Saturday set myself and the youngest thinking about Strawberries.

As luck would have it we live about 3 miles away from the wonderful Claremont Farm. They do ‘pick your own’ fruit and so we went hunting.

image

Strictly speaking,  I am opposed to child labour, however when it comes to filling my fridge with the best strawberries that the Wirral has to offer, then I relax my standards.

The strawberries were out in abundance, all plump and juicy!

image

This one made the grade and was promptly added to my basket.

image

Claremont Farm do the whole experience so well, they even include a complementary tractor ride to the further fields.

We didn’t partake this time, apparently 12 is too old.

image

Look at these beauties! We filled two small baskets, which filled a large colander and they cost less than £3.50 which I think is a bargain!

image

It would have been rude not to make a Strawberry cake, wouldn’t it?
