My Captured Moment! Happy Birthday Gabriella

October 2005 :Gabriella Anastasia Maria

Dear Daughter,

This week sees you celebrating your 20th birthday, no longer a teenager.

I remember your first birthday so clearly.

Himself and I were amazed that we had managed to keep you alive for a whole year.

Until your sister came along, we thought we such good parents, then we realised that actually you were such a good girl!

We are so proud of you.

We know that Uni isn’t always easy but you have persevered.

It will be worth it in the end.

You are a lovely daughter, sister and friend. You are sassy, unique, special ūüôā and always try your best.

Happy Birthday Twinkle, we love you very much.

My Captured Moment – A surprise visitor!

image

October 2013

This week My Captured Moment was taken in Blue Spring State Park, Florida.

It is a fuzzy image of our girls but that doesn’t really matter, actually it’s probably better, given that they are in their¬†swimsuits.

However, I think you can make out  the image of the MANATEE that is next to them.

We had been enjoying a quiet day of down time after the madness that is Orlando,.

The girls were swimming in the spring, when this Manatee appeared and joined them.

Word must have spread like wild-fire around the park because the landing, where I was standing to take the picture, became very crowded, very quickly.

There must be many pictures of them in cameras all over the world and they were relentlessly questioned from the sidelines.

The Manatee was in no rush to leave, the amazing encounter only came to an end when the eldest eventually tired, and had to get out.

It was such a magical day, in beautiful, natural surroundings in the peaceful Floridan countryside.

Such a lovely change from the manic, materialistic whirl of the theme parks.

There is so much more to Florida if you get out of Orlando and explore.

It still rates as one of the best days of that holiday and it cost the princely sum of $6 to park!!

Five on Friday

It’s been a funny week, I can’t believe it’s Friday but we are ready for the weekend.

I feel like I have not done a Five On Friday for ages.

Here are this week’s offerings;

One

image

We have been enjoying the fabulous late summer weather.

We had the huge moon at the beginning of the week and glorious sunrises and sunsets.

The River Mersey has been looking magnificent too.

This picture is of the tide being in on one side and out on the opposite.

I love living so near to the river and watching the changing seascape .

Two

image

I have been sorting through some of my pictures from Dubai.

There is a post in the pipeline but here is a sneaky peak at the stunning marina where we were lucky enough to stay.

Three

image

Himself and I have spent some time this week in the car park of this church.

It is the church opposite the youngest’s school.

She has a speaking part in the school production.

As the performance date is drawing nearer, she has a heavy rehearsal schedule.

The school is a good 25 minutes drive from our house, hence the busy week.

Three

image

Well despite my protests it seems that you can’t stop nature.

The Glade is definitely looking more and more autumnal as each day passes.

I did think I would have to start preparing my garden for what comes after autumn, I find it easier not to say the W word ha!,

However, it seems to have sprung back into life this week. The geraniums, fuchsias and hydrangea are all going strong.

It’s October, the eldest’s birthday month.

. I  am struggle to believe that she is almost done with her teenage years.

Her present is safety stowed in my special hiding place.

I am wondering whether we will even see her on the day, nevertheless I will be celebrating my 20th year of mothering ha!

That is it for this week, I will pop over and comment after work x

August 2008

I am taking full advantage of the eldest being away in Rome by popping this picture of her onto my post today.

We had a great week in London in the summer of 2008. We did all the tourist attractions and were really lucky with the weather.

We visited attractions such as the Tower of London, the London Eye, the Museum of Childhood.

We took tea on Oxford Street and saw The Sound Of Music in the West End.

We watched the ‘Changing of the Guard’ outside Buckingham Palace and picnicked in most of¬†the Royal Parks.

This picture was taken in The Diana Memorial Playground, Kensington Palace Gardens.

‘Inspired by the stories of Peter Pan, the playground encourages children to explore and follow their imaginations, learning whilst they play’.

This was supposed to be a pit stop, but it was quite early in the morning and not nearly as busy as we expected Р so we lingered!

The eldest helped the youngest with ladders, swings and climbing frames.

It is a brilliant place to visit.

This picture always makes me smile at the memories we made that week.

Five On Friday……..The desperately clinging to Summer Edition!

I refuse to accept that Summer is over just like that!

The weather forecast for the weekend isn’t too bad for this part of the world, oh please, lets ¬†not give up hope!

This week I have loved clinging on to summer………………….

One

image

I have continued to walk Jack on his summer route (despite localised flooding), and when the rain had the cheek to show up……….

image

it gave me the perfect excuse to get my new wellies out.

They were a real bargain in the summer sales and are so comfortable.

Perfect for dealing with summer showers.

Two

image

These lilies are three weeks old, three weeks!!!

They are still going strong and are definitely more beautiful in the flesh.

Ah I love summer flowers !

Three

image

I have enjoyed looking through our pictures of the summer so far…..!

Four

image

The photographs inspired a visit to a Turkish Restaurant in Liverpool, where we enjoyed a delicious meze.

Five

image

This week I have loved continuing with family adventures, regardless of the elements!.

We have been to Bounce Below and done some Geo Caching¬†, it’s been great making the most of¬†family time before the mayhem that is the school routine, begins again!

This week I’ve loved being slightly delusional but winter lasts such a long time!!!

My Captured Moment #21

image

September 2007

As the return to school is fast approaching and we all prepare to take “that” photograph, My Captured Moment this week is the youngest’s first day in reception class.

Having attended pre school for a couple of years before she truly started school, the youngest was quite familiar with the school building and routines of the day.

However, she was still delighted to be going to ‘big school” and loved her big girl “buniform”.

This is my favourite first day back to school photograph!

Have a lovely day!

Bounce Below……in a cave in North Wales!

It was suggested that we might enjoy a family trip to Bounce Below in North Wales.

It is such a popular spot that they only had pre booked placed available on the day that we went.

Himself had booked our tickets in advance,  the only slot they had left was more than a week away at 10am.

image

Therefore, we left the house at 7.45am on Sunday morning!

image

We arrived in plenty of time to be fitted for our safety helmets.

The website had been checked before hand and so we all wore long sleeves and long trousers.

The reviews on line suggested that you couldn’t take your phone in to take pictures.

However, lots of people had their phones but there wasn’t anyone available, in time, to walk me out to get mine.

So I don’t have any pictures from inside ūüė¶

When you arrive you are part of a big group with the same time slot.

The whole group is led into the mouth of a cave where there is a circuit of nets with tunnels and slides linking them together.

There is a very strict protocol about which way you go and there were plenty of members of staff on hand to police it.

Other than that, it is for you to explore.

The nets give a trampolining effect which is great fun.

The tunnels/slides are not as bad as they seem and even the youngest, who was initial hesitant, found her confidence.

image

This picture was taken after we emerged from the cave an hour later.

There was a lot of crawling involved and if I was to go again, I wouldn’t wear jeans, my knees were chaffed.

I would also take my phone!

It was a great experience, it was very funny at times and we all really enjoyed it.

Most of the staff were great, but lets not discuss the service in the cafe!!!

image

However, every cloud has a silver lining and, if the staff in the cafe had been better, we would have missed this lovely riverside walk to Llanrwst town centre from the carpark.

There we enjoyed a lovely lunch and we were able to sit outside in the square.   A great finish to the morning.

image

Have a lovely day!

This week I have Loved……. oh I have a list!

I know everyone is saying it,  but I can not believe that it is the end of August already!

The summer has flown, the leaves are already falling from the trees in The Glade.

We have a lovely long bank holiday weekend stretching ahead of us before the mayhem of the school routine begins again.

I have a list of things that I have loved this week, so I will just get on with it.

This Week I have loved¬†and my Favorite Five¬†–

One

image

Picnics

We have been enjoying many picnics lately.

It is so much easier when we have Jack, our black Labrador with us.

It isn’t always easy to find somewhere that let dogs in.

However, when we have a picnic, he just sits at the end of table hoping that something falls into his path.

Two

image

Orchids

This beautiful Orchid has taken up residence on our landing window sill.

I bought it this week to brighten up that window and every time I walk past it, it makes me smile.

I am having a bit of a love affair with Orchids at the moment and was delighted to find one on my desk at work last week.

However, as much I love them, they don’t love me, I would be grateful for any tips that anyone has about how to keep them alive.

Three

image

 Coffee

Not really coffee in general, but Costa Coffee for making at home in a cafetiere.

Bizarrely, I love coffee but since I was pregnant with my second daughter, I have not been able to drink it very strong.

Therefore, this arrangement is ideal because I get to put a smaller measure in but still have the delicious Costa taste.

Four

image

The Beach

I love the beach at anytime of year.

On Saturday evening we took Jack for a walk in New Brighton.

We were rewarded with a glorious sunset, followed by a dramatic thunder storm.

Thankfully, we were in the car by the time the rain hit.

Five

image

Our Garden

Now I know the weather has been awful and we all feel cheated out of a summer.

However, the flip side is that our garden is still looking lovely and colorful, there are still buds on The Passion Flower and, the Hydrangea still isn’t in full flower.

It is the little things!!

Disneyland Paris : August 2005

It is 10 years, almost to the day,  since this picture was taken.

The eldest was ten, she had been before and was very excited.

The youngest was two and quite bemused.

image

In fact, she didn’t mind meeting Goofy.

The eldest loved it.

image

However, the next night while the eldest bungee jumped!

The youngest was very pleased indeed to receive a Mini Mouse balloon!!

We had such a fantastic few days in Paris 10 years ago, it was lovely looking back through the photographs.

Thank you for hosting Heledd.

Postcards from Spain!

You must know by now that I don’t do long rambling posts, short and snappy is my philosophy!

I wanted to share our¬†pictures from Spain but don’t want to bore anyone.

So I have made three postcards to give a snap shot and hopefully make it a bit more interesting!
