Five on Friday!

Hello my lovelies, I seem to have stumbled into Friday!

I missed last week because I was away for work in San Francisco.

I’ve no idea if it’s a great city or not because I barely stepped foot outside the hotel, it was pretty full on.

I have been fighting severe jet lag ever since, especially given that we got caught up in the fog delays at Heathrow airport.

Here are my Five on Friday in no particular order.

I did get to cross the Golden Gate Bridge on the only chilly, foggy day of my entire stay.

It was a beautiful sight as the fog descended before our very eyes.

There were some spectaculars photographs taken but obviously not by me ha! I was too cold cold to get my phone out again!

On a spectacularly beautiful day, I got to the door of the Ferry Building to be called back to the hotel by my boss.

This picture is totally unfiltered, the sky was that beautiful shade for most of my visit.

I never did make it inside and for a bit of a foodie like me, I am afraid that it might end up being one of the biggest regrets of my life that I never got to see it.

Or maybe not, because we have just heard that the eldest may be going out that way to work next summer.

So maybe I will get to walk aimlessly around the ferry building one day!!

I also didn’t get to ride the tram or trolley car.

But I did see them and they all looked fab.

There seemed to plenty of modes of transport in San Fran!

Four

The eldest requested that I purchased some make up for her and that was literally all I had time to run and buy.

This is the holiday edition packaging, isn’t it beautiful?

Comfort food has definitely been needed since my return.

Himself has obliged and looked the Minestrone Soup Eastham style up on the blog yesterday.

He made it for a quick bonfire night dinner.

It was delicious and he was delighted with the results.

It really is so quick and easy, something magical happens to the ingredients when they are in the slow cooker.  It was perfect for bonfire night.

That’s my five for this week. We are planning a quiet weekend with plenty of down time after school mass on Saturday.

What have you been up to?

Thank you Amy for hosting!

  1. The soup looks delicious. A shame you went all that way and missed out on most of it. We had sky that colour here on Sunday and Monday, it was like summer. Enjoy your peaceful weekend and hopefully recover from your jetlag.

  2. San Francisco looks beautiful I would love to visit but with too little ones it is unlikely I will going any time soon! The soup looks yummy, I love a warm bowl of soup on these cold wet days. Enjoy your weekend Xxx

  3. It looks amazing Lisa. I do hope you get the opportunity to return soon and I hope you are now well rested from your travels. The soup looks delicious and I have bookmarked the recipe to attempt this weekend. It’s certainly the weather for some winter warmers now. X

  4. Such a shame that you didn’t get to see more of the city, but I know that is how it goes on business trips. The only answer is for you to plan a holiday there sometime! It is very well worth it!!!! The soup looks like a great winter warmer and comfort food which I am sure is what you needed after SF! Thank you for joining Five On Friday. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx

  6. It is a beautiful place but it’s been many years since I’ve been there myself. You’ll definitely have to go back, interesting you had fog at the start of the week too, it was bad here as well. And yes, that packaging is very pretty hope she likes it 🙂 #fiveonfriday

  7. I love San Francisco. I haven’t been there in years! Your photos are super…they bring back great memories 🙂 That soup look fabulous. We are having gray, drizzly weather and I am craving some comfort food as well. I hope you have a relaxing weekend and get a chance to “catch up” (jet lag is the worst!) Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!

  8. Too bad you didn’t get to see more of San Francisco, we’re originally from a town across the Bay and visited frequently. The food is so good, EVERYWHERE!

  9. I have always wanted to visit San Francisco – for some reason I really want to go there when it’s super foggy as I’ve heard it’s pretty epic. I would also really like to have a walk around Alcatraz.

Sorry you didn’t get to see more of the city – I hope your business trips give you air miles so that maybe one day you can go back! 😀 xxx

    1. Oh yes I forgot about air miles ha! Some of my colleagues managed Alcatraz and said it was great. The fog is amazing, it just appears and blankets the whole city. It was pretty eerie to watch from the bridge. Thank you Catherine xx
