Given that I have been pestering everyone all over the internet for gardening advice all summer, I thought I would show some pictures of progress so far.
I took the before pictures on a rare sunny morning in February. The updated pictures I took on Saturday.
The fence remains unpainted for two reasons, we are thinking of adding a double fence to the part behind the table and we cannot agree on a colour.
But when it is painted a beautiful shade of duck egg, I will of course update you ;).
As I have mentioned before, the garden is really small, therefore I chose a mesh type of table to try to make it look less cluttered.
Also, as much as I would have loved a wooden table, so would Jack, he chewed the last one to bits.
The 6ft wall is really imposing on such a small space, so I chose to put trellises along it and grow climbers to add a bit of interest and to try to disguise it a bit.
I am amazed at the progress of the Honeysuckle, Clematis and Passion Flower so far!
The hearts contain LED tea lights that look really pretty with the little fisherman lamp lights.
I have to trim the lavender back to keep it under control. It is smelling gorgeous at the moment.
Finally, here is a little snapshot of all that was blooming when we left it on Sunday.
We also have 7 apples on one tree but none on the other, does anyone know what that is about?
We are currently on holiday without an internet connection and not that many places offering it.
Given that I have posted this sitting on the steps of a closed restaurant, leaching on last night’s wifi, I will pop and comment as soon as I can link up again.

the climbers look lovely, I can’t help you with the apple tree, I have an orange tree that has only ever produced about 5 oranges in 8 years!

The climbers are Honeysuckle, Clematis and Passion Flowers. I am not an expert but give me a shout if you think I can help. Good luck, it is very exciting when you are a novice and things begin to grow x

I think what you have done so far looks amazing. I love the trellises on the walls – it’s so much easier on the eyes than the plain bricks walls. Fab job! 🙂

Lisa you’ve done a great job on it. The garden doesn’t look at all small there. The corner with your furniture looks nice and cosy. It must be handy for entertaining having it right near the double doors.
I love that you have fuschia. I feel such a connection to it because we had a Flower Fairy alphabet book when I was a child and F was for fuschia and for my name too. We had a bush of it outside the front door and I loved playing with it as earrings 🙂

Are the apple trees the same species? Some are self pollenating and some aren’t — I only found this out recently, when I asked about ours at the garden centre!! Looking absolutely LOVELY — the trellises will look amazing once all of those beautiful plants have really taken hold! Thanks so much for linking up with #HomeEtc — hope to see you again next week! x

They are the same species and are suppose to pollenate each other according to the garden centre, that is why we needed two. It is a mystery. Thanks for hosting lovely x

I love the trellises and climbers – it looks lovely already but really will look amazing when they are all in full bloom. We are doing similar in our garden and our little apple tree is already producing apples which I am so excited about. I’m afraid I am not a gardener so can’t explain why they aren’t both producing apples! Love the string lights too, where are they from can I ask? I’m after some for our garden 🙂 xx #HomeETC
