Five on Friday!

I am joining with Amy from Love made my home for Five on Friday.

Once more I have chosen five things that have made me smile this week.

One

The first thing was a very exciting delivery of my summer make up. Don’t you think this box is just gorgeous?  I will be summer ready as soon as the sun decides to show up, it’s so cold here on The Wirral at the moment, I am still wearing black tights and it’s nearly June!  I can’t wait to unpack this little box at the weekend, I’m hoping it will unleash the sun too ha!

Now that I am working behind a desk again all day, it has become apparent that my eye sight might not be what it once was 😉  I have taken the plunge and had my eyes tested, it turns out that I am short sighted in one eye and long in the other. These are my new glasses and I am delighted to report that they have made a world of difference already.

Three

The Cunard Shipping line celebrated it’s 175th anniversary last weekend. The three Queens Mary 2,  Elizabeth and Victoria came to Liverpool, their spiritual home, to mark the occasion. We saw the fireworks on Sunday evening from Eastham. By the time I got to The River on Monday, there were only two of the ships left, they are in this picture I promise. There was such a buzz about the city for the whole weekend.

Four

This picture is of all the flowers that have burst into life on our walk through the woods with Jack. It is great that it is so light in the evenings that we are able to go for a walk and not have to stick to the roads with street lighting. The woods are beautiful at the moment, the landscape seems to change from day to day.

It’s been half term holidays this week for Miss Glade,Himself has been off work with her. On Tuesday she went shopping with her friend and some of her birthday vouchers. I have to say, given my obsession with her wearing age appropriate clothes, she did really well.  These shoes are the prettiest shade of aqua blue.

That’s it for this week!

  1. Can’t wait to see your ‘summer makeup’ box – I’m fascinated with the care that you take over your skincare! I’m so rubbish at that sort of thing so I’m eager to learn. I even looked up the Liz Erle website and am tempted to get a tester kit. All the best, Judy.

    1. Oh Judy I really can’t recommend Liz Earle highly enough. If you have a John Lewis nearby I think they do tester kits too. I will do a reveal of what’s in the box and let you know ha! Have a lovely weekend xx

  2. We didn’t see the ships at all. We were put off by reports of the number of road closures and lack of parking on the Wirral. (A friend in Liverpool set off to see them and couldn’t get near). After seeing the footage on TV I’m really sorry we didn’t make the effort.
I agree about the weather. I’m still wearing socks and boots! It looks bright and sunny but that biting wind has been around for weeks now. Roll on June xx

    1. I’m sorry we didn’t make more of an effort but I have heard lots of stories of people being stranded. I took that picture from the new nature reserve at Port Sunlight, you get a lovely view of the river and there is plenty of room for Inca to run free xx

  3. It must have been quite a spectacle to see all the ships go along together, such a feat of engineering. Have a good week. 🙂

  4. It is cold isn’t it? I’m still wearing socks and boots – can’t wait to get the summer skirts, t-shirts and sandals out of hibernation. I bet it would have been wonderful to see the three ships in Liverpool:)

  6. How wonderful to have the woods to walk through. So much to see and delight in. It’s hot as heck here so I can really only walk right at night and it’s just not the same since I like to explore. Those shoes are a very pretty color. I’ve been behind a desk for 8 years and have resigned so within a week’s time, I will be a free bird and so very happy. Have a great weekend. Tammy

  7. Looks like you had a fabulous week. What fun to see the Cunard ships. They have such a long history. We have the Queen Mary docked here in Long Beach. It’s so fascinating to visit. Wishing you a wonderful weekend 🙂

  9. Not working outside the home any longer makeup has become something of the past but I still love looking at all the new colors in nail polish and lipsticks each season! Once a princess always a princess, lol! I hope you share what came in your summer makeup box, it is such a pretty box I’m sure inside is equally lovely!

What a beautiful woods you walk through! Here in New Hampshire we have so many ticks that walking right now is not an enjoyable thing to do. Best stay inside and admire the flowers from afar! I do envy your walks though… 😀

Oh my gosh those sneakers are too cute! Great minds think alike I guess because I was just looking at the same style on Amazon the other day. I’m mostly a white sneaker kind of gal but I do so love the look of the pastel colors that are available today. Somehow when a cute sneaker gets translated to a size 11 the cuteness fades, lol!

    Hugs for now,

    1. Oh no those ticks sound awful, we did have some horrible mosquitoes last year that were very unpleasant. I would miss my walks with the dog so much if I couldn’t go. We are very lucky here!

The shoes are pretty, I think I am about a size 9 1/2 in US sizes too, I know how you feel. Thank you for popping by, I hope you have had a lovely weekend x
